    Description

    The main focus of the Claims Specialist role is to handle the filing, reconciliation, and closure of freight claims. Prior experience in dealing with freight claims is a must.

    Responsibilities:

    • Review submitted claims documentation for accuracy.
    • Manage claims for a specific group of customers assigned every 6 months by the Senior Manager of Claims.
    • Assist carrier partners and customer service in investigations to determine the validity of carrier claims.
    • Submit all claims using the EZ Claims software.
    • Update EZ Claims with the latest status of claims.
    • Verify accuracy of carrier claim denials and escalate when necessary.
    • Have a good understanding of NMFC, liability limits, and carrier tariff regulations.
    • Negotiate with carriers when required to settle claims and achieve the best outcome for customers.
    • Collaborate with Sales and customers to address claim-related queries and provide education to improve customer satisfaction.
    • Share claim resolution details with management, customer service, and finance departments.
    • Meet the annual KPIs established by the Senior Claims Manager.
    • Have a comprehensive understanding of the claims accounting procedures, assist entry-level claims specialists as needed.

    Requirements:

    • Hold a Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, finance, or related field, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Have a minimum of two years of operational logistics experience, with previous exposure to claims processing.
    • Must be knowledgeable in both LTL and FTL processes.
    • Possess strong communication skills, maintain a professional manner in phone conversations and emails with professionals at all organizational levels.
    • Proficient in PC skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Goal-driven, constantly seeking opportunities for learning and skill enhancement to drive innovation.
    • Able to work autonomously, highly motivated, and possess a proactive attitude.
    • Display a positive and persistent professional demeanor essential for fostering relationships and obtaining collaboration from internal departments and external stakeholders.
