The German Patent and Trademark Office offers several apprenticeships in the following state-recognized profession at its location in Munich starting on September 1, 2025:

IT Specialist (m/f/div)

Specialization in Application Development

IT specialists in application development design and program specific software. They test existing applications, adapt them, and develop user-friendly interfaces. They also troubleshoot errors, advise and train users. During their work, they use software engineering methods and modern software, and utilize a wide range of current information and communication technologies, including multimedia applications.

During the three-year dual vocational training, you will get to know the various departments of our IT department and their diverse tasks. In addition, you will learn about different industrial property rights and participate in advanced IT training. Your practical training at the German Patent and Trademark Office in Munich will be complemented by attending the local Municipal Vocational School for Information Technology.

This is a profession that can be pursued both in the public sector and in the private sector.

You bring with you:

  • at least a secondary school leaving certificate
  • very good knowledge of the German language, at least at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • basic knowledge of office applications
