THE ROLE
The Logistics Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities and personnel of the Holloway Logistics department. He or she will manage staff who work together to ensure that goods are delivered on time and safely.

The manager will be responsible for developing new ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs in their organization's operations through implementing new technology, updating procedures, and/or changing how certain jobs are performed within the department.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Assist in the development of operating plans for transportation in support of organizational goals including facility, equipment and staff.
  • Identify departmental financial resources necessary to support operating plan and provide cost justification for departmental spending.
  • Participate with BU Head in the development of department operating budgets.
  • Provide process improvement recommendations to BU Head and implement process improvement action plans within the department.
  • Conduct routine departmental analysis on functions, processes, asset utilization (equipment, resources, and labor) and communicates results of departmental analysis to BU Head.
  • Partner with Safety Manager to be fully compliant with all safety and Hazmat rules and regulations, legal regulations, and human resource policies; ensures safety and security of staff, facility, equipment, and inventory relevant to department. Report safety and security discrepancies.
  • Manage performance of logistics staff and recognize, train, coach, counsel, and take corrective action when warranted.
  • Review and update policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct and track operational training programs to ensure that employees are familiar with their jobs and safe operating procedures.
  • Organize and maintain vehicle maintenance records, daily vehicle inspection reports, vehicle fuel and supply inventories, vehicle maintenance schedules, and vehicle maintenance logs.
  • Oversee the Dispatch and Logistics sales
  • Attend Department Head meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in transportation or logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • 35 years of experience as a Logistics Operations Manager or in a developing lead role.
  • Desired experience with Transportation Management Software (TMS) and Load Board Systems.
  • Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Express.
  • Knowledge of applicable transportation regulations and laws, FMCSA, DOT, CHP Compliance.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, analytical and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, and the ability to be highly flexible in a constant changing environment will be critical to this role.
