    About the Position:

    The Operations Director at Washington Shoe Company has overall responsibilities for both Distribution Center (DC) and IT functions. He/she will lead the DC team to ensure all omni-channel distribution of finished goods and inventory control activities comply with internal and external policies, procedures, and regulations, while meeting internal productivity and financial KPIs. The Operations Director also leads the IT team and manages its goals, projects, and resources in support of the companys overall strategic objectives. The Operations Director will champion and drive continuous improvements in both functional areas by never stopping challenging the conventional wisdom.

    Role and Responsibilities:

    Distribution Center:

    • Lead teams of order fulfillment associates to execute all outboard order fulfillment functions, including picking, packing, and shipping functions, that meet or exceed customers expectations.
    • Work with inventory control team to implement robust daily, monthly, and annual inventory processes that ensures our inventory accuracy rate of 99%.
    • Develop appropriate human resource needs that support our cyclical business needs.
    • Develop and implement ambitious departmental and individual KPIs, and fully incorporate these KPIs into departmental and individual performance evaluation.
    • Instill regular rhythm to monitor and analyze KPI data and identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

    IT:

    • Identify and manage IT teams day-to-day priorities and goals and provide support to ensure the teams success.
    • Manage the teams progress and help facilitate communications with other teams.
    • Assess and monitor the teams technical needs (e.g. skills) and work with the leadership team to address any shortcomings and needs.

    Others

    • Develop collaborative cross-functional relationships with the leadership team to foster a positive working environment.
    • Be a leader and mentor to team leadership and frontline associates.
    • Optimize resource allocation and utilization to meet operational goals effectively.
    • Manage and maintain departmental budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost control.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce operational expenses without compromising quality.
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and legal requirements.
    • Identify operational risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize potential disruptions.
    • Assume general oversight and management of companys physical facility and interactions with external parties, such as landlord, fire department, etc.
    • Collaborate with other departments to align operational activities with overall business objectives.
    • Drive cross-functional initiatives to achieve company-wide goals and initiatives.

    Required Skills and Experiences:

    • 3+ years of relevant experience
    • Self-motivated with a strong bias for action
    • Healthy sense of curiosity for the How and the Why of things
    • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodology and concepts, such as Kaizen, Lean Six Sigma
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
    • Experience with enterprise level ERP and WMS systems
    • Experience analyzing and manipulating data in Excel to aid decision making
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
    • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints.
    • Effective and persuasive presentation skills on controversial or complex topics.
