ASSOCIATE MERCHANDISE MANAGER - ART & DECOR

Responsibilities Include:


  • Develops highlevel category strategy based on internal (sales analysis, KPIs) and external (trend, competitive analysis) analysis. Has a processimprovement mindset with goals to improve and simplify. Identifies new business opportunities and recruits new designers to the site.
  • Partners with the Director of Merchandising to build and lead the strategy for assigned categories within catalog and informs eCommerce team on webmerchandising strategies to create a seamless customer experience. Works to develop catalog assortment and spread pagination while driving productivity and profitable business growth.
  • Owns the assigned assortment, including artist drop ship, purchased/owned, and exclusive artist development. Partners with merchandising assistant to ensure accurate product documentation and PIM data. Coordinates with art & décor merchandising team to coordinate sample management.
  • Analyzes business performance and presents reports weekly and quarterly. Synthesizes data from multiple sources to understand the business and drive growth. Reports key takeaways and proposes actionable next steps.
  • Owns artist relations as it relates to product assortment, independent of artist support provided by the Associate Manager, Artist Services.
  • Understands the pulse of the market and competitors. Identifies areas of opportunity with a high focus on newness.
  • Partners with the team to create compelling catalog assortments while considering key price points, historical performance, developing trends, and awareness of opportunities and risks.
  • Manages merchandising turnovers to creative, inventory planning, and eCommerce for specified businesses (ex: ornament program.)
  • Partners with Planning and Inventory management to review seasonal plans and executes Buy Review prior to PO placement within the ornament program.
  • Manages assigned category for catalog through the seasonal production cycle, ensuring both data and brand integrity.
  • Works with the Merchandise Assistant to ensure accuracy of information and communication to cross functional teams.
  • Manages the existing processes, systems, and calendars and creates new ones to drive efficiency within the ornament program.
  • Participates in related staff, team, and/or task group meetings to ensure constant communication of key items.


  • Hybrid

  • May work remotely but requires the ability and flexibility to work in the office (onsite) in Madison as needed and upon request. Expect a minimum of 1 day per week in office, more when the job requires.
  • 5+ years of directly related experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in merchandising, retail merchandising, marketing, or a similar field, and 3 or more years of related experience are required.
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of catalog merchandising, multichannel retailing, sales optimization in an online environment, financial planning, and strong analytical skills are required.
  • Preferred by not required is experience working specifically in the arts; understanding gallery models, understanding fine art disciplines and techniques, and being connected to and involved in the art community.
