Description
Shrewsbury Electric and Cable Operations (SELCO) seeks an Inventory and Facilities Coordinator. This position will directly oversee the day to day operations of the inventory department.

This position utilizes inventory software and is responsible for ordering, receiving, stocking, and issuing inventory to field workers in both the electric and cable division of the company.

This employee performs physical counts of level of inventory on a routine basis to ensure physical inventory levels match system counts.

Supports various needs of both the supervisor and the department.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Maintain an organized warehouse and inventory yard.
  • Perform crucial functions of inventory operations such as, ordering, receiving, stocking, cleaning, testing, inspecting, maintaining, and counting physical inventory.
  • Responsible for working with Line crews, cable tech and 3 party contractors to pull inventory for daily work projects.
  • Load and unload trucks, move material in a safe manner using indoor and outdoor heavyduty forklift, pallet jack, handcart, floor sweeper or other device at all SELCO facilities
  • Organizes and maintains warehouse and inventory yards and areas throughout SELCO's Service Area for efficient material storage and handling, including labeling, stocking and organizing stock items on shelving.
  • Works closely with the Procurement and Accounts Payable department for ordering and receiving materials and supplies.
  • Monitors and is the point of contact for the cleaning service.
  • Responds to emergency facilities needs/clean ups.
  • Advises Inventory and Facilities Supervisor of all unresolved maintenance problems and recommends contract service vendors for repair work. Monitors the work of outside contractors and keeps a log of all work performed.
  • Cleans and maintains all SELCO warehouses and garages.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues that arise related to department activities.
  • Use the inventory module of accounting software to maintain accurate counts of inventory items, via receiving and charge out inventory items.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of policies and procedures, general product knowledge, participate in training and attend meetings as requested.
  • Coordinates and manages returned equipment restocking, repairs or disposal.
  • Cooperates with and assists operation personnel in emergency situations.
  • Keeps warehouse, apparatus, equipment, and grounds clean, painted, orderly, and in good working condition.
  • Count, check, prepare, and record items being received or shipped.
  • Assist in any major company projects as needed.
  • Enforces OSHA safety rules and SELCO's operational policies and procedures.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support internal customers' needs related to the inventory function.

Assist supervisor in process improvements and internal controls support around inventory and warehouse needs.

Backup/Support supervisor in basic facilities maintenance needs.

Perform other duties as assigned.


BASIC KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Preferred to have three (3) years of proven experience in inventory management or similar position

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Must travel between Town of Shrewsbury buildings and stock yards as required. Ability to work without direct supervision and make decisions in the course of carrying out duties and assigned responsibilities.

None.


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to operate a forklift.

All work performed in accordance with departmental and regulatory safety standards.

Proficient in the use of computer keyboard, basic hand and power tools and test equipment.

Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds).

Work and travel in inclement weather.

May work with items demanded Hazardous materials.


This is an essential position supporting the infrastructure of Shrewsbury and may require attendance on weekends, holidays and during emergency conditions, such as inclement weather and power failure.
