    Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    Provides support to healthcare providers during exams in out-patient clinics, performing clinical tasks and ensuring patient comfort, care, and safety.

    SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED:
    Coordinates activities of peers or support staff as needed.

    MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:
    Utilizes standard office equipment and medical machinery such as autoclave cleaning equipment, telemetry, pulse oximeter, and more.

    TYPICAL DUTIES:
    • Assists providers during exams by anticipating needs and adapting to patient complexity.
    • Attaches patients to diagnostic equipment and provides comfort and care during exams.
    • Ensures supplies and equipment availability, minimizes patient wait time, and maintains efficient room utilization.
    • Escorts patients, obtains vital signs, performs diagnostic tests, and enters data into the electronic medical record system.
    • Maintains clinical equipment and inventory, implements infection prevention measures, and precepts new Ambulatory Technologists.
    • Performs administrative tasks including scheduling and registration.

    AS A SURGICAL PROCEDURE ASSISTANT:
    • Assists providers with patient processes, prepares rooms, and instrumentation, and provides post-procedure care.
    • Checks and calibrates equipment, sterilizes instruments, and prepares specimens for lab analysis.
    • Reviews discharge instructions with patients.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Requires High School diploma or equivalent, customer service experience, medical terminology knowledge, and computer skills.

    AMBULATORY TECHNOLOGIST I, II, III:
    Career Ladder:
    • Band One (I) - Entry Level requiring training and supervision.
    • Band Two (II) - Competent with minimal supervision, may precept new employees.
    • Band Three (III) - Expert with downtime procedures expertise, mentors new technologists, and leads special projects.

      • Advancement consideration based on performance standing and manager assessment.
