The Academic Support Teacher will play a crucial role in providing targeted academic assistance and language support to students participating in our Spanish Immersion program.

This position is ideal for an educator passionate about bilingual education and committed to ensuring the academic success of all students.

• Provide individualized academic support and intervention to students in the Spanish immersion program, targeting areas of need in language proficiency, literacy, and content knowledge.
• Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths and areas for improvement, using data to inform instructional planning and intervention strategies.
• Work in conjunction with classroom teachers to provide cohesive support from grade to grade and identify students who need support.
• Demonstrate flexibility and ongoing communication when working with students, parents, and colleagues
• Coordínate and communicate with staff from Kalamazoo Public Schools who provide services to students with service plans and ensure services are being provided
• Provide and implement progress monitoring of students, regularly assessing growth and adjusting instructional strategies as needed.

• Fluency in Spanish and English, with proficiency in both languages across listening, speaking, reading, and writing domains.
• Knowledge of formative and summative assessments
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate skills for reading and math
• Provide small group instruction
• Awareness of dyslexia and other diagnoses that affect learning
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, teachers and parents.
• Currently reside in the United States

• Bachelor's degree in Education (minimum)
• Michigan teaching certificate
