The General Manager serves as the leader for their property. They are responsible for the operational success and direction of all departments on property.

Through scheduling weekly meetings, property walks, brainstorming sessions, and coaching sessions the GM sets goals for their managers and follows up to track progress.

The successful GM proactively identifies areas for improvement or efficiency, formulates a plan and works to implement.

The GM is the financial steward of the property and is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, and for putting controls in place to ensure that goals are achieved.


  • Associates Degree in a hospitality or businessrelated field.
  • 45 years hotel/restaurant leadership experience
  • Training skills, must have the ability to assess skill level of employees and modify training as needed.
  • Strong mentoring skills: must have the ability to mentor employees through role modeling, supervision and feedback.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Professional demeanor
  • Proficient computer skills, including: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work on feet for extended periods
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Understands and consistently adheres to all Highway West Vacations policies and procedures as outlined in company policy and procedure documents.
  • Understands and consistently adheres to personal job responsibilities, standards of performance, and reporting structure, as outlined in job description and standards of performance documents.

Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions:


Employee Experience - The General Manager is expected to enhance employee morale, engagement, and staff retention.


Guest Experience -The General Manager plays a critical role in creating memorable experiences for guests.


Revenue Strategy Development:
The General Manager provides regular input on regional market conditions and competitive landscape to the Revenue Team.


Financial Responsibilities:


Budget development:
collaborate with Home Team to develop and execute annual budget.

Financial analysis:
ensure invoices are submitted and approved in a timely manner. In addition, complete KPI (Key Performance Indicators) one sheeter and lead monthly MPR (Monthly Property Review) call.


Expense and Labor Management:

Monitor and flex expenses based on business levels. Identify areas to reduce costs without minimizing guest experience. Utilize labor scheduling tools to monitor labor in real time(Hello GM, Paychex Scheduler). Participate in the evaluation and prioritization of capital expenditure.


Property Asset Management

Assess property assets:

Conduct a thorough evaluation of the resort's physical assets, including buildings, land, equipment, and amenities, to understand their condition, value, and potential.

Utilize Property Inspection list to evaluate and manage action items via inspection list.
