    Description

    Purpose of Role

    As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and develop of the mechanical architecture for equipment used in commercial and industrial evaporative cooling and humidification equipment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, R&D, and manufacturing to apply products to customer requirements and bring new and enhanced products to market. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in HVAC systems, a passion for innovation, and a proven track record of successful product testing and improvement.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Bill of Material configuration design support for engineering assistants
    • Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine the feasibility of design or application
    • Provides support for generating technical information for sales literature and application questions
    • Provides mechanical design of evaporative cooling and humidification equipment in accordance with engineering design standards and customer specifications
    • Provides all engineering documentation related to the mechanical design of HVAC equipment such as design spreadsheets, bill of materials, piping drawings and mechanical drawings
    • 2D and 3D CAD design/modeling basics
    • Review products to confirm that they are designed and manufactured in accordance with the applicable standards
    • Perform simple structural and heat transfer analysis and/or calculations
    • Creates installation, operation, maintenance and repair documentation for products or systems
    • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
    • Adhere to Condairs Corporate and Health & Safety Policies, office procedures, and the Quality Assurance system/policies.
    • Other duties as assigned by Management.
    • Up to 15% travel (domestic and international) is required. Additional travel may be required during the initial few months for training.

    Professional Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies

    Education and Experience:

    Required:

    • Degree or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering/Technology, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum three years of experience in mechanical product or system design.
    • Knowledge of mechanical system design.

    An asset but not required:

    • Experience working in an ISO 9001 organization.
    • Experience with evaporative cooling systems and AHU system design.

    Geographic Location: Greater Richmond VA area.

    Language Skills: Strong written and spoken English.

    Computer Skills: Microsoft Office. Experience with SolidEdge is an asset but not required.

    Other: Proven ability to work in the United States and the ability to travel internationally as required. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
