Medical Advocacy Team Member
This position will request and follow up on receipt of medical bills and records.

In addition, team members will review all medical records and bills and create demand packages to obtain the maximum compensation for injured clients.

This position will obtain final client balances on any and all liens for treatment related to their claim and confirm final child support liens and liens for pre-settlement loans.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Request medical records and bills from all providers in a case.
  • Create authorizations for clients as needed.
  • Request lost wages and GDC affidavits as needed.
  • Follow up on medical records, bills, lost wages, and affidavits.
  • Follow up with clients when requests are rejected unexpectedly.
  • Ensure invoices for medical records are paid and entered under prepaid costs.
  • Changes status of case files in CRM as appropriate.
  • Drafts and sends demand packages.
  • Communicates with attorneys regarding demand package review and revision.
  • Creates medical benefit pay demand packages and sends them to medpay adjusters.
  • Communicate with adjusters to confirm receipt of the demand package.
  • Reviews medical records at attorney request (for cases not in need of demands).
  • Creates medical chronologies for litigation cases as needed.
  • Assists with mass torts department medical records review.
  • Assist with confirming final balances for medical providers.
  • Secure all public and private liens (ERISA, Medicaid, Medicare, etc).
  • Resolve any issues that may be delaying finalization of liens.
  • Send lien reduction requests to providers.
  • Call health insurance companies and healthcare providers.
  • Send necessary Letters of Representation.
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Notate case files appropriately.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • May be responsible for performing front desk administrative tasks:
  • Greeting clients and visitors when they arrive at the office.
  • Sorting and delivering mail and deliveries to employees. There is no need to open
this mail first.

  • Working closely with Operations department
  • Ordering office supplies (general and kitchen) and putting them away when they
arrive.

  • Letting operations know if there are any office issues (air conditioning or heating
unit down, electrical issues, plumbing issues, etc.)


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Appropriate level of administrative and customer service experience and skills.
  • Effective communication skills with employees at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to organize, plan and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in a fastpaced environment, with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously and understand when an Attorney or Manager needs to be involved in decision making.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Sensitivity to problems or challenges
  • The ability to identify when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong, with the skill to effectively communicate with clients in a professional, consultative manner.

  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through written and verbal communication.

  • The ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and implement the best solution to solve problems or challenges.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • 12 years or more executive office or legal assistant experience, or the equivalent combination or education and on the job experience.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and other preemployment screening.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree or educational equivalent preferred.
  • Previous legal assistant experience is a plus.
