Duties:


As a MEDICAL RECORDS TECHNICIAN, you will:

  • Accept and review individual Resident medical records, (compiling in proper order, all pertinent documents, (i.e., face sheet, discharge summary, progress notes, nurses notes, laboratory reports, etc.), follow accepted procedures, verify identification data, and correct discrepancies.
  • Collect Residents data and identification forms. (i.e. flow sheets, medication list, laboratory, xray and other diagnostic reports) for medical record.
  • Perform timekeeping duties for all staff on the unit. Maintain timekeeping files for each employee. Perform final validation on each timesheet each pay period.
  • Work closely with the Supervisory Nurse and nursing staff in scheduling appointments emergency transportation to other healthcare facilities and clinics, coordinate, in a timely manner, the Resident s delivery, pickup point and return trip.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Qualifications:


  • You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-05 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-04 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position as listed below.

  • Experience with medical terminology, medical records procedures, and techniques to organize resident charts
    AND:
  • Reviewing medical records for completeness, consistency, and compliance with regulations.

OR
Successfully completion of 4 years of education above the high school level.

A combination of education and experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.


Education:

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:


  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency

  • Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment.
