The Interventional Radiology Technologist begins employment with a 6 month orientation in over 100 procedures performed in the interventional lab.
They must maintain competency in the operating and use of angiographic fluoroscopy, ultrasound and CT (both Diagnostic and Interventional uses) and be able to manage 1500+ products in the inventory of the lab.
The technologist assists in performing many NeuroInterventional surgical procedures such as cerebral aneurysm coilings, avascular malformations and stroke interventions.Oncology procedures performed in the lab includes, but is not limited to biopsies of various organs, chemo embolizations and Y-90 Radiopharmaceutical Therapies.
The technologist also assists with uterine artery embolizations, venous lysis of tumors, vertebroplasties, infusion pump placements/revisions, radiofrequency ablations and other peripheral vascular interventions, including lysis and clot removal.
This department performs over 20,000 procedures annually.Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree (Required)BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
Graduate of an accredited radiography program; current registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Current Ohio Licensure in Radiography. Knowledge of anatomy, exposure, positioning, Physics, radiation protection, medical terminology, and intravenous injection. BLS Certification
