Position Summary:
The Painter, VI prepares and paints construction and maintenance projects.
Position Responsibilities:
- Smooth surfaces using sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool and remove old paint from surfaces, using paint remover, scraper, wire brush, or blowtorch to prepare surfaces for painting;
- Fill nail holes, cracks and joints with putty, plaster, or other filler;
- Select premixed paints, or mix required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors;
- Prepare and cover interior walls and ceilings of rooms with decorative wallpaper or fabric;
- Erect scaffolding or set up ladders to perform tasks above ground level. Keep work areas neat and clean;
- May provide instruction and guidance to Painter's Helper;
- Perform duties assigned as a member of the Fire Brigade;
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience & Educational Background:
- High School Diploma and 3 years of experience in the painting field is required.
- Construction industry experience is preferred.
- Valid State driver's license is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Must possess the strength and dexterity needed to perform the job and the physical ability to move equipment as necessary;
- Must adhere to operational safety rules and regulations as deemed by the University;
- Must be able to follow directives and possess good communication skills and ability to interact with building/office occupants effectively;
- Respirator Fit Testing may be required.

1199 New Hire rate
:$26.14 and 1199 One Year of Service rate** $26.67
