The Communications Manager is responsible for shaping and executing the communication strategies of the New Lines Institute for Strategy and Policy.

This individual will help develop and implement comprehensive communication plans to promote the organization's research, events, and initiatives to various stakeholders, including policymakers, the media, and the public.


Responsibilities:

Website Monitoring and Maintenance (30%)

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Institute's website, ensuring timely posting of approved content, visual appeal, and overall functionality.
  • Work with external contractors to make structural improvements and accommodate new initiatives requiring a web presence.
Content Creation and Promotion (30%)

  • Manage the organization's social media accounts and newsletter, including content creation, posting, and engagement, working closely with social media consultants.
  • Promote the organization's events, webinars, and conferences through various channels to maximize attendance and engagement.
  • Coordinate with the Events Manager to ensure consistent and effective messaging before, during, and after events.
  • Maintain and uphold the organization's brand identity and messaging across all communication channels.
Analytics and Reporting (30%)

  • Analyze and report on social media and website metrics to measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns.
  • Provide a quarterly breakdown of topperforming content with recommendations.
  • Monitor media coverage and track the Institute's presence in the press, utilizing Meltwater Global Media Monitoring software. Provide weekly summary reports for the Senior Director of External Relations.
  • Conduct keyword research to identify relevant topics and trends in the Institute's focus areas.
  • Monitor and analyze SEO performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
Strategic Communication Planning (10%)

  • Assist in the development and implementation of an integrated communication strategy to enhance the Institute's visibility and influence, working with external communications strategists.
  • Collaborate with leadership and research teams to align communication efforts with the Institute's mission, goals, and research priorities.
  • Provide communication training and support to researchers and staff as needed.

Experience, Education, and Other Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, political science, communications, or a related field; graduate degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.
  • At least four years working in communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably within a nonprofit or researchfocused organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in digital and social media platforms, content management systems (e.g., WordPress), SEO tools, and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic communication plans.
  • Knowledge of the policy research landscape and familiarity with the issues and topics relevant to the Institute's focus areas is a plus.

Pay:
$60, $70,000.00 per year
