    Your Role

    Responsible for setting the vision and developing, implementing and administering the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Management System for Domtar Personal Care globally.

    Assist the business units to maintain compliance with all applicable EHS requirements. Monitors regulatory developments related to EHS and advise key stakeholders on potential business impacts, develops solutions and leads implementation. As a subject matter expert, support representing with government agencies, industry associations, and/or other organizations.

    Key activities of the position are:

    Key Responsibilities
    Global EHS Management System (EHS-MS)

    Owner:


    Leads the Development and implementation of a Global EHS Management System in compliance with Industry Standards (similar or equivalent to OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, DNV, etc.) and best practices.

    Proactively Plan, resource, and direct EHS projects and activities in the organization to meet schedules, standards, and company objectives.

    Leadership and Skill Development

    Identify and drive the skill development plans to have a world class EHS team.

    Work with facilities company-wide to assure training of all associates to maintain full compliance and eliminate safety, health and environmental risks, violations and costs.

    Develop and Implement Plans to grow front line safety leaders and broaden safety ownership to the shop floor teams and throughout all employees.

    Culture & Communication

    Measure, monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to meet company-wide goals and drive best in class results. Identify opportunities and implement plans to improve.
    Drive the implementation of programs and initiatives to foster a strong Safety culture.

    Regulatory & Compliance


    Monitors regulatory developments related to EHS and advise key stakeholders on potential business impacts, supports audits, develops solutions and leads implementation.

    Support communications with Federal, State/Provincial, and Local authorities regarding compliance issues and negotiate means of compliance.

    Continuous Improvement

    Deliver and continuously improve EHS management systems and global compliance programs.

    Implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards by creating functional strategies and specific objectives for safety focus groups and develops procedures/policies for DPC.

    Must be able to influence and drive change at all levels of the organization.
    Position Requirements
    Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, engineering, or related technical field.
    Minimum of 8-years of leadership experience.
    Minimum of 5-years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
    Strategy Development and Project Management experience.
    Decision-making skills and the ability to build respect and influence at all levels.

    Ability to work cross-organizationally through matrix reporting structures in order to accomplish strategic objectives as well as organization development goals.

    Extensive knowledge of EHS and ability to maintain expertise with new regulations and best practices.
    Experience with MS Project / Project Management Software and tools, MS Office Suite.
    Ability to travel domestically and globally.

    Preferred Requirements
    Advanced Degree.
    Certification as a Certified Safety Professional is a plus.
    5+ years leadership within EHS for a site/facility in a GMP manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
