Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Make risk adverse, common sense underwriting decisions
- Respond in a timely manner, to underwriting inquiries from agents
- Research, analyze, and interpret statutes, regulations and opinions, court rulings by utilizing professional legal and compliance publications
- Provide analysis and guidance on relevant federal and state statutes and regulations, court rulings, opinion letters to the agent network
- Research/update new/changing laws/statute/regulations that could affect the risk of the company and communicate those effectively to agents
- Participate in the agent underwriting review process
- Support agency with recruitment process and retention of agents
- Support Claims Department with state law analysis and state practices
- Participate on crossfunctional teams
- Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Ability to travel overnight
- Responsible for creation and presentation of educational and underwriting materials for employees and agents
- Prepare bulletins, alerts, memoranda, and other agent communications
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate Degree
- License to practice law
- Experience with title insurance underwriting or claims, preferably 35 years title experience
- Ability to sit for majority of 8hour workday; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
- The noise level is generally moderate

- Ability to work in an unsupervised, but collaborative environment
- Proficient with internet research
- Possess exceptional presentation skills, orally and in writing
