- Provides social work services to patients of the Community Mental Health facility;
- Works with patients on social, emotional, and related difficulties;
- Functions under the direction of a Supervising Social Worker or Senior Staff Social Worker;
- Expected to meet with professionals and agencies to obtain assistance and guidance for patients.
- Thorough knowledge of social work practices and procedures;
- Working knowledge of community service agencies and programs;
- Ability to conduct assessments and interpret relevant laws;
- Effective communication skills;
- Strong organizational and analytical skills;
- Participates in emergency on-call services;
- Responds to crises effectively.
- Participates in psychiatric team settings;
- Provides therapies to individuals, groups, and families;
- Screens, evaluates, and diagnoses patients with mental health issues;
- Maintains case records;
- Evaluates and refers patients to community resources;
- Prepares treatment plans;
- Participates in discharge planning;
- Utilizes community resources;
- Participates in transfer of patients to other care levels;
- Performs assessments off site, including emergency departments.

Pending classification by New York State Civil Service, this position may be deemed non-competitive under the HELP Program, meaning a civil service examination may not be required.
SALARY RANGE: $67,151 - $74, Cayuga County Comp Plan, CSEA Union, Grade 30)
