Position Objective:


The Security Officer provides security, safety and customer service, and works in conjunction with CCAE staff to respond to employee, patron, and visitor calls for routine and emergency services.

Working alone or in teams of two, the Security Officer patrols the campus to ensure the facility remains secure during performances, events, and after hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


Security:


  • Conducts foot patrols of the campus and facilities to check for irregularities.
  • Secures buildings, rooms, and workspaces.
  • Observes and reports activities and incidents.
  • Calls emergency service personnel or other CCAE staff as required.

Customer Service:


  • Responds appropriately to routine and emergency calls of service.
  • Communicates with facility users, staff, the public, vendors, volunteers, sales department, event staff and other security officers.
  • Provides excellent customer service at all times.
  • Assists staff before, during, and after performance events.

Safety:


  • Uses safety precautions in all security services and notifies staff, the public, vendors, volunteers, sales department, event staff and other security officers.
  • Preserves order and conducts all work in accordance with CCAE's policies and procedures, including safety, time & attendance, and uniform policies.
  • Assists with the periodic inspection of fire control equipment.
  • Assists the Safety Team with office safety walkthroughs.

Administration:


  • Writes clear, concise, detailed, and legible reports.
  • Reports health, safety, facility and security concerns.
Other duties as may be deemed necessary by the direct supervisor.

  • This position requires a valid and current BSIS California Guard Card
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Active listening skills.

  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively

  • Must be a selfstarter, reliable, and effective team member
  • Able to operate a portable radio/phone
  • Well groomed and professional appearance. Must wear appropriate uniform at all times
  • Must be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays

Education and Experience:

This position requires a minimum of 1-year experience in security and customer service. High School Diploma or equivalent education required. A valid and current BSIS California Guard Card is required.

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up 60 pounds or more, and occasionally lift and/or move 70 pounds. Must be able to reach, bend and stoop.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for 6 hours or more. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

The workspace is in a security and hospitality environment. Noise levels vary, but can be moderate to high during programming and events.

While performing this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time with respect to both indoor and outdoor events.

Temperature levels may include hot, cold, and mild. The noise level in the work environment may be low, moderate, and at times may be high.
