We have an exciting opportunity located in Poway, CA for an seasoned Aircraft Conceptual Design Supervisor with experience in low observable aircraft design and configuration layout to lead a functional team in aircraft conceptual design of unmanned air vehicles.

Must have experience with all phases of aircraft development from requirements development, design, engineering, manufacturing, test, certification, and operations as well as broad understanding of how design decisions during conceptual design effect total life-cycle-cost.

A thorough understanding of engineering disciplines including airframe, aerodynamics, flight controls, propulsion, landing gear, avionics, electrical power systems, fuel systems, software, systems engineering, and their interrelationships is required.

Key aspects to this job are to use Digital Engineering methods to enable agile development while making pragmatic design decisions based on aircraft development experience.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Perform supervisory administrative tasks as required; annual performance reviews, merit and other recommendations, ensure personnel training is completed by team members, promote personnel professional growth.
  • Planning and coordinating Conceptual Design Support for P&Ls.
  • Supervising and leading small but highly technical team to support Conceptual Design on new or highly modified aircraft platforms.
  • Developing roadmap for digital engineering implementation for conceptual design and aircraft development efforts.
  • Coordinating and leading efforts for Engineering Digital Transformation including outreach across the company's Functional and P&L departments.
  • Presenting at national conferences representing GA-ASI for Conceptual Aircraft Design and Digital Engineering.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and guidance for research into the solution of engineering problems.
  • Functions as a key participant in attracting and retaining engineering business as well as professional staff.
  • Effectively counsels, mentors and transfers highly specialized technical engineering knowledge to management, professional and support staff.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Job Qualifications:


  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; eighteen or more years of experience with a bachelor's degree, sixteen or more years of experience with a master's degree, or thirteen or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must be a nationally recognized expert in one or more engineering fields as demonstrated by:
  • Original work(s) published in national professional engineering journals.
  • Invited presentations to national engineering symposiums.
  • Participation as Chair on national engineering review panels.
  • Engineering patents held.
  • Has demonstrated leadership ability by directing/developing the solution(s) to highly technical and complex engineering problems and has been a key participant in attracting and retaining engineering business as well as professional staff.
  • Must possess the ability to:
  • Guide the resolution of unusually complex technical problems.
  • Champion the development of new concepts and principles.
  • Serve as an expert spokesperson on those concepts and principles.
  • Must also possess excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, be customer focused, and able to work on a selfinitiated basis or in a team environment.
  • Able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • A Professional Engineering License is desirable.

$140,940 - $252,293
