We want your knowledge and expertiseJob Summary and Qualifications:
Under the direction of the Sterile Processing Manager/Director, the Coordinator of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) provides for the delivery of efficient and effective sterile processing for designated area(s).
The Coordinator will help the manager ensure that the processing service provided is consistent with established national, state and medical center standards and that it is provided in a safe, appropriate and cost-effective manner.
The Sterile Processing Coordinator is responsible for the supervision and development of Sterile Processing Department staff; for assisting the SPD Manager/Director, in planning, directing and monitoring of unit operations; and in the fiscal and quality management of the unit.
What you will do in this role:
- Supervise, coach and mentor departmental staff.
- Ensures orientation and annual competencies are developed, evaluated and maintained. Ensures certifications are maintained as required when applicable.
- Ensures instruments, care/sterility is provided according to standards of professional practice.
- Conducts performance evaluations per hospital policy.
- Ensures team member satisfaction goals are attained and action plans for improvement are developed, implemented and evaluated.
What qualifications you will need:
- A High School Diploma or GED is preferred
- A Central Sterile Certification is required in South Carolina hospitals and is strongly preferred in Georgia and Florida hospitals
- Prior sterilization and surgical instrumentation experience is preferred
- 5+ years' experience as a central sterile technician
years' experience as lead/supervisor, excellent customers' service, CSP equipment use and the ability to troubleshoot equipment, must be able to communicate with all levels of OR/CSP Customers.
- Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT), or Certified Registered Central Service Technician
