    JOB TITLE:Engineer I, Power Systems & Electronics

    EMPLOYER: ZEVX INC.

    REPORTS TO: Manager, Systems Engineering

    LOCATION: HQ, Gilbert, AZ

    SALARY: $80,000 - $95,000 annual + benefits + stock options

    SUMMARY: The Power Systems and Electronics Engineer plays a crucial role in the design, development, integration, and optimization of a wide range of charging solutions for electric vehicles. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of electric charging systems, energy conversion solutions, and associated components in mobile and stationary systems. The engineer will be responsible for optimizing system performance, efficiency, and reliability while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. The position will rely on a combination of electrical engineering, software development, and project management to create efficient and reliable charging power systems that can be deployed in various locations to support EV infrastructure.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design mobile charging systems for electric vehicles, considering factors such as power requirements, safety standards, and portability.
    • Develop specifications and schematics for electrical components, including chargers, batteries, inverters, and control systems.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software components into a cohesive mobile charging solution.
    • Circuit Design and Analysis: Initiate and lead design reviews and technical discussions related to power electronics. Collaborate with teams to brainstorm and develop solutions.
    • Component-Level Analysis: Investigate inductor core and capacitor dielectric materials. Analyze high electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical stresses in components.
    • Advanced Circuit Topologies: Survey and explore advanced circuit topologies, component technologies, and manufacturing techniques to enhance circuit performance and reduce costs.
    • Mixed Signal Circuits: Develop mixed-mode circuits for power electronics applications, focusing on accuracy, robustness, and low power consumption.
    • Hybrid ICs: Consolidate discrete components into hybrid integrated circuits (ICs) to improve robustness, functionality, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Integration and Packaging: Integrate power modules, cooling systems, gate drives, discrete components, and sensors into a single package for efficient layout and manufacturing.
    • Conduct thorough testing and validation of mobile charging systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and performance requirements.
    • Analyze test results, identify areas for improvement, and iterate on the design to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety.
    • Work closely with automotive standards, component suppliers, energy providers, and infrastructure operators to integrate mobile charging systems into existing EV ecosystems.
    • Work with the software team to develop protocols and interfaces for seamless communication between charging systems, vehicles, and grid infrastructure.
    • Manage project timelines, budgets, and company resources to deliver mobile charging solutions on schedule and within budget and power constraints.
    • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and external partners to procure components and services required for system development and deployment.
    • Stay informed about advancements in power electronics, power conversion systems, EV technology, and charging infrastructure to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
    • Participate in research initiatives and industry conferences to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and contribute to the advancement of electric mobility.
    • Work with Semiconductor companies, connection suppliers and power device suppliers to deliver SOA power system solutions.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
    • Strong understanding of electric vehicle technology, power electronics, battery, and control systems.
    • Experience with:
      1. EMI/EMC/Cross Talk effects
      2. Latest technologies for innovative power electronics systems
      3. Power electronic devices
      4. Electric and magnetic circuit-solving methods (time- and frequency-domain)
      5. Knowledge of electrical and magnetic materials
    • Proven experience in electric vehicle systems design, integration, and testing.
    • Experience with hybrid and electric vehicle architectures is a plus.
    • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
    • Familiarity with automotive industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
    • Experience with embedded systems programming and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
    • Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN bus, Modbus, and Ethernet.
    • Knowledge of regulatory standards and safety requirements for electric vehicle charging systems (e.g., SAE J1772, ISO 15118, UL 2202).
    • Experience with hybrid and electric vehicle architectures is a plus.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Effective communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work in cross-functional teams.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Project management experience, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
    • Passion for sustainable transportation and environmental stewardship.
    • Five (5+) years of related experience
