Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in planning and supervising assigned functions in the operation, maintenance and construction of county facilities; performs related work as assigned.


Typical Duties:

  • Supervises, assists, trains, evaluates, and disciplines staff
  • Assists in the planning, scheduling, and implementation of assigned projects and daily workload
  • Coordinates and supervises activities with contractors/vendors, various agencies and individuals
  • Prepares and maintains records and reports which may include daily inventory and audit records
  • Maintains relationships with outside vendors and internal customers
  • Ensures compliance with laws, regulations and policies related to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Employee Right To Know regulations
  • May operate heavy equipment
  • May perform billing and maintain applicable software
  • May assume responsibilities of Division Supervisor during extra seasonal operations, such as snow shifts
  • May purchase supplies


Essential functions of this position include but not limited to driving various vehicles including large trucks; operating various types of heavy equipment; working with and around other people; dealing with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand-wrist for data entry; vision acuity (near) necessary to use computer; vision acuity (far and color vision); speech and hearing for communicating with others; finger dexterity for data entry.

Environmental factors include working outside for a portion of the time including working in wet/cold/hot/dusty conditions.


Minimum Qualifications:


Three years experience in functional area, including one year of supervisory experience, OR, any combination of education, training and experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:


Must have a valid driver's license; if hired from out of state, must obtain an Arizona driver's license within 30 calendar days of hire and maintain it throughout employment.

Final job offer will be contingent upon a satisfactory 5-year Arizona Motor Vehicle Report
. Class A CDL with tanker endorsement; Mining Safety and Health Association (MSHA); First Aid/CPR; Flagging; Supervisor's Academy.


Preferred Qualifications:

good leadership skills, ability to train others, great communication to supervisors and crew members, ability to supervise teams in absence of Division Supervisor.

This position is non-exempt from overtime.
This position is safety sensitive.

  • Use computers and applicable software
  • Work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Respond to emergencies on a 24hour basis
  • Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 60 pounds
  • Work extended hours out of doors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports
  • Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
  • Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers' service specifications
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
