JOB SUMMARY:

Although the name of the position is Constant Attendant (CA), the position has two distinct types of observation.

  • As a CA, the observation of patients is less strict and could mean observing more than one patient.
  • As a 1:1, this type of observation is strict and requires remaining with the patient at all times at an arm's length. Patients on 1:1 observation are on suicide precautions or restrained for behavioral management.
The expectation is to work 4 (four) shifts per month.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES - CONSTANT ATTENDANT

  • Remain alert and in visual contact with the patient at all times.
  • Assist the patient in daily activities as directed by the nurse.
  • Assist the nurse in restraining and removing restraints.
    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1:1
  • Maintain direct 1:1 constant observation.
  • Keep patient within an arm's length at all times, even when patient is bathing and toileting.
  • Remain alert and in visual contact with the patient at all times.
  • Assist the patient in daily activities as directed by the nurse.
  • Assist the nurse in restraining and removing restraints.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Education:
  • 1. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • 2. Successful completion of the hospital orientation for constant attendant within 3 months of hire required.
  • 3. Current NVCIT (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training) certification or within 3 months of hire required.
