    Here at B&K, the ideal candidate for the VDC Technology Specialist role will work to improve BIM technology workflows within the Virtual Design & Construction department.

    This role will be responsible for database maintenance and work to ensure continuity between groups.

    The main priorities of this role will be to fully implement Revit Fabrication along with implementing large selections of Autodesk BIM360 products.

    Additionally, the role will develop production tracking reports for all BIM modelling personnel and develop documentation for VDC standards.


    Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
    Management of fabrication database content for Revit Fabrication, CADmep, ESTmep and CAMduct.

    Implementation of new software, processes, procedures, and workflows.

    Creating and managing work instructions related to project support activities.


    Setup Revit projects, Updating Project files throughout the life of the project, Project driven Database content as directed by Management.

    Manage projects within Autodesk BIM360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud.

    Updating material list pricing and multipliers along with labor rates in BIM and Estimating databases.

    Ensuring BIM projects are setup with material "buy-pricing" and factored labor from estimating using Fabrication profiles.

    Act as the technical expert for VDC integration to manufacturing shop management software.


    Act as the technical expert in VDC reporting through Revit and Fabrication CADmep required for manufacturing; BOMs, Hanger reports, etc.

    Mentor, train, and support team members on all Software utilized by VDC

    Navisworks Manage

    Bluebeam

    Microsoft Office products

    Work with equipment vendors on content downloads and integrate into models per standards.

    Equipment submittal review

    Vendor model dimensional verification and correction (as required).


    Be strategic leader in advancing construction workflows around technology; work to create dynamic BIM models which show real-time work package/spool updates throughout the construction process.

    Be strategic leader in creating solutions to improve feedback of construction productivity to improve accuracy of BIM data.

    Be strategic leader in using completed BIM models for estimate comparison.

    Assist with modelling and drawing production as directed by Management.

    Assist with drawing review and QA/QC as directed by Management.

    Supervisory / Budgetary / External Communication Responsibility

    This will be an individual contributor role

    Prior work experience and educational requirements

    5 or more years of experience with:
    All software listed above

    Fabrication database management

    Software training

    Desktop support for software systems with an emphasis on excellent BIM support.

    Physcial Demands

    The physical demands are those associated with working in a typical office environment.
