Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill multiple part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) CEL Program Specialist positions for the Community Engagement & Leadership (CEL) department at Oregon State University (OSU).
Community Engagement & Leadership (CEL) inspires and nourishes relational leadership practices that enrich communities through collaborative learning, service, and action. In partnership with community-based organizations, CEL provides direct service, dialogues, workshops, and other community engagement opportunities that allow students to work towards a more just, sustainable world. CEL is founded on the beliefs that the world should be a more just place for everyone, leadership is for everyone, and that students have the power to shape and change their communities. Imagine a better world. Make it happen.
CEL is one of four departments within Student Experiences & Engagement (SEE). SEE's core protocols are: transformation begins with ourselves, practice social justice & equity mindedness, center care for self and community, and build trusting, reciprocal relationships.
Program Specialists are core to the success of Community Engagement & Leadership and are integral in the advancement of CEL's mission. Program Specialists support students in building skills and confidence as leaders and change agents; Program Specialists facilitate learning experiences for students to strengthen their leadership identity and gain knowledge and skills in self-awareness, building relationships, collaborating with others, and taking mindful action on social issues. The position's main responsibilities include planning events, supporting reciprocal relationships with community partners, advising students/peers, and delivering educational programs for students at OSU.
In this position, students gain leadership and future readiness skills. Specifically, students strengthen their ability to solve complex problems, communicate verbally and in writing, work as a member of a team, and plan and facilitate events and peer to peer learning experiences. Furthermore, students will advance their personal social responsibility and leadership including values-based, strengths-based, relational, and socially conscious leadership practices. Community Engagement & Leadership is a learning organization and community that believes in continuous learning and growth, demonstrating care for each other at work, and that each person on the team has valuable gifts to offer.
CEL Focus Areas:
All student employees will perform general position responsibilities, including but not limited to managing the office email, outreach, and developing and delivering programs, to provide support across the CEL unit as needed. However, student employees are also expected to support the work of the other sub-teams.

Breaks to join our sub-teams We hope you consider selecting one of these specialities when you complete your application.
