Job Summary

Billing Specialist


Responsible for handling billing tasks with the guidance of the billing manager, the Billing Specialist oversees ambulance billing and coding, addresses inquiries from insurance providers and patients, and clarifies all activities related to the billing and accounting procedures.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review completion of daily run reports and those from previous days.
  • Verify patient demographic and insurance details, as well as ensure all necessary signatures are obtained.
  • Input essential patient data into the billing system.
  • Submit claims to all insurance companies and contracts.
  • Conduct Medicare, MassHealth, and Insurance assessments when required.
  • Aid customers in accessing their account details.
  • Process supplementary or secondary insurance requests.
  • Collaborate with Traumasoft for streamlined billing procedures.
  • Carry out other assigned responsibilities.

Job Authority
The Billing Specialist holds complete accountability for patient care coding and billing operations.


Qualifications

  • Proficient in medical coding (ICD10, CPT, HCPCS)
  • Must possess knowledge of Medicare regulations
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Experience with billing software, electronic health records, and Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of HIPAA rules and patient confidentiality laws
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Team player with the capability to work autonomously.
  • Detail-oriented in a dynamic setting.
  • Strong organizational skills, quick learner, proactive, sound judgment, and adaptable.

Job Environment
