About the Department


The
_Event Development and Production Department_ develops and produces NYRR events from concept all the way through execution in alignment with NYRR's mission.

The TCS New York City Marathon, United Airlines NYC Half and the RBC Brooklyn Half are just a few of the 40+ adult events and 30+ Rising New York Road Runners youth events produced by the team each year.

The team leads core elements of the operations including physical site management, timing and scoring operations, volunteer management, hospitality and special events, safety and security, management of our warehouse and all race collateral, city and state agency relationship management, and permitting.


About the Position

Job Responsibilities _(primary and secondary duties)_**:

  • Assist with developing weekly race security and medical plans, coordinating with event managers and security/medical vendors.
  • Assist with designing security overlays, access control plans and layered approach to security for all NYRR public events, including:
  • Coordinate with public safety and law enforcement officials on all aspects of event planning, NYRR deployments, and infrastructure needs
  • Coordinate the planning of security guard, medical and K9 assets, liaising with event management team and NYRR contractors.
  • Assist with document development, including security, contingency and medical operations plan.
  • Assist with all vendor relationships, billing, accounts payable and budget tracking (projections/actuals) for security, medical and emergency management operations.
  • Assistance with Race Communications Center (RCC), including:
  • Mobile and temporary command center setups
  • Communications network and equipment (IT systems, laptops, tablets, video screens/monitors, phones, radios, GPS tracking, weather monitoring devices, etc.)
  • Support submission of ICS documentation and state required medical plans.
  • Assist the Warehouse Operations team and prepare medical equipment for weekly and marquee truck loading and unloading, when needed

Job Requirements:


  • Experience:_
  • 24 years experience in security, medical, criminal justice or military background preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with NYC city agencies, particularly on large scale events preferred.
  • Knowledge of common medical terminology and care provider types.
  • Experience in massparticipatory sporting event production
  • Education & Certifications:_
  • College degree preferred not required
  • Emergency Medical Technician certification a plus
  • Skills and Attributes:_
  • Strong administrative, customer service and time management skills required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, timeline focused attitude.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Independent, organized and driven professional, able to selfmotivate and innovate.
  • Other Requirements:_
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment greater than 25lbs.
  • Ability to work at both NYRR Manhattan Office and NYRR Bronx warehouse facility.
  • Weekend Work Requirements:_
  • This role will be required to work an average of 2 weekend events per month
  • All staff are required to work the NYC Half Marathon, Brooklyn Half Marathon, and the TCS NYC Marathon.
  • Salary: $65K/year
  • NYRR requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID19 unless approved for a medical or religious exemption_
