    Full Time Science Faculty Position:

    Program Background:

    Menaul School, an independent day and boarding school for grades 6-12 with a rich Presbyterian heritage, is seeking a qualified candidate interested in a full-time position to join its Upper School Science faculty in the new year.     Menaul School is looking for an engaging teacher who can inspire, guide, and challenge students across the scientific disciplines. We would love someone who can build strong understanding of even the most complex scientific concepts, someone who loves pulling back the curtain and showing students how to experiment, collect and analyze data, to think critically about issues ongoing in the world and to apply both scientific and moral reasoning to those issues.

    Features of the position include small class sizes (8 to 16 students per class), individualized instruction, opportunity to introduce your academic talents and interests to students in the form of semester electives, broad teacher autonomy to identify challenges and develop and implement solutions in the classroom, and frequent dialogue with extremely supportive families.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    • Implements curricula according to Menaul and Next Generation Science standards
    • Works with colleagues across the STEM department to align content
    • Meets with students during structured periods to support individual learning
    • Builds classroom environment conducive to student learning and inquiry, including labs, lectures, activities, and regular formative and summative assessments
    • Provides timely feedback to students on their assignments
    • Maintains at all times regular records of student performance and attendance
    • Serves as an advisor to students as they progress through high school
    • Regularly attends staff meetings and in-service training activities/professional development
    • Develops professionally on an independent basis through workshops, trainings, conferences
    • Maintains appropriate contact with students, academic advisors, and parents
    • Complies with Menaul School Employee Standards of Conduct, upholds and enforce rules, administrative directives and school policies

    Minimum Requirements for Application:

    1. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a field of science
    2. Ability to maintain high level of professionalism regarding students, staff, parents, and school matters

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Abilities:

    1. Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in relevant field
    2. Three years of teaching experience in a middle or high school setting
    3. US state-level teaching certification in specified field, or other accredited state or national teacher certification, e.g. UK Qualified Teacher Status
    4. Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques
    5. Ability to maintain positive relationship with administration, faculty, students
    6. Membership in a professional organization such as National Science Teaching Association
    7. Experience teaching AP-level science courses
