    Description


    Job Description:

    • Coordinates the maintenance and repair activities of all equipment within school cafeterias.
    • Provides technical expertise in purchasing new equipment.
    • Plans, directs, and inspects work completed by Maintenance Mechanic and oversees work completed by outside contractors.
    • Reads and follows manufacturer's specifications, identifies material needs, orders material, and ensures that equipment and systems within school cafeterias are operating appropriately, or are repaired.

    Position Details:

    • Position: 260-days (12 months), 8 hours per day
    • Starting salary: $47, (Note: Prorated based on employment start date)
    • Anticipated start date: 7/1/2024

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintains all types of kitchen equipment and analyzes faulty operation.
    • Inspects and tests electrical circuits, coordinates installations, and works closely with construction contractors for kitchen renovations.
    • Evaluates non-working equipment for surplus, provides training to staff, and audits safety practices.
    • Performs preventive maintenance, record-keeping, and reviews invoices for submission.
    • Orders supplies/parts, oversees Maintenance Mechanic's work, and performs equipment inspections.
    • Completes periodic performance evaluations, engages in daily responsibilities, and responds to emergency calls outside of work hours when necessary.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Skilled knowledge of kitchen equipment operations, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
    • Basic knowledge of tools and materials used in the department.
    • Effective management of direct reports, ability to work independently, follow directions, keep records, collaborate with others, and occasional supervision capability.
    • Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Virginia.
