    Primary Function

    The Teen Coordinator is responsible for implementing teen programs and developing local resources for Club teens ages Programs will foster positive self-Identity; education, employment, social, emotional and cultural competencies; community and civic involvement; health and life skills and a moral compass. Oversee as well as facilitate in the delivery of programs and activities within the teen programs encompassing the Formula For Impact priority outcomes of academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles as well as assuming recruitment responsibilities for the teen programs.

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    • Provide year-round teen program planning, seek out BGCA funding and program opportunities, including conducting, monitoring and accessing teen interest surveys and input to obtain and maintain effective programming.
    • Assist in the promotion and interpretation of the Club philosophies, methods and accomplishments as it relate to teen programming consistent with organizational goals and mission.
    • Provide employment, health, life skills and training opportunities to Club teens using needs-based and interest-based programs.
    • Assist with the promotion and implementation of all other teen program initiatives that reinforce a positive self-identity.
    • Compile state-of-the-art teen resources, information and data to address current and future trends affecting teens.
    • Participate in Club staff and advisory meetings to ensure teen interests and concerns are addressed in a manner consistent with, and in conformance with, the mission and policies of the Boys & Girls Club.
    • Serve as a positive adult role model at all Club, local and national events.
    • Serve as a liaison with BGCA Teen Services to maximize resources available for service to teens.
    • Collaborate annually with other statewide Club staff to enhance teen programming.
    • Assist with any additional projects as assigned by Club management.
    • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in Club's employee handbook and elsewhere.
    • Plan and oversee the administration of designated teen programs and activities supporting the Formula For Impact priority outcomes.
    • Responsible for going to schools for games and other recreational settings for recruitment of teens
    • Continually evaluate teen programs, reporting results to the Unit Director according to established deadlines and addressing gender or cultural needs of members
    • Collect data and prepare regular reports as needed for programs, funding sources and other projects i.e. Meth Smarts, Smart Moves, Passport to Manhood, Keystone, Torch Club, etc.
    • Oversee proper teen record keeping including daily attendance, program participation, achievement, problems/issues, etc.
    • Train and monitor staff in the delivery of constructive criticism and positive discipline techniques to members.
    • Demonstrate leadership and professionalism to members, staff and volunteers.
    • Work with staff members to ensure that program areas are safe, that equipment in maintained in good working condition and that repair needs are reported immediately.

    Additional Responsibilities

    • Excellent human relations, verbal and written communications skills.
    • Have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and the Internet.
    • Ability to collaborate with other community-based teen organizations and social service agencies.
    • Knowledge of programs and resources available to create a well-rounded teen program and the ability to establish positive peer working relationships.
    • Ability to organize teen outreach events, including high school recruitment presentations. Capability to communicate the goals and objectives of the Club's teen initiative.
    • May participate in special programs and/or events.
    • May be required to meet and/or communicate directly with classroom teachers regarding member needs/accomplishments.
    • Maintain high standard of customer service in dealing with members, parents, volunteers, other staff members and the general public.
    • Assume other duties as assigned.

    Skills/Knowledge Required

    • Four-year degree in related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
    • A minimum of one year working in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities.
    • Knowledge of youth development.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Demonstrate customer service skills.
    • Group leadership skills.
    • Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
    • CPR and First Aid certification.
    • Valid Missouri State Drivers License.
    • May be required to drive Club van and/or bus. (Club may provide the cost for acquiring a Class E, CDL or other specialized operator's license as required).
    • Valid Missouri State Driver's License, if operating Club vehicles.

    Physical Requirements/Work Environment

    • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods.
    • Must be able to squat or bend to communicate at youths' level.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 10 pounds for short periods of time.
    • Must be able to participate in physical activities throughout the facility, on the property and/or on field trips.
