JOB SUMMARY:


NORC at the University of Chicago seeks a talented and experienced digital communications professional to join its Strategic Communications team.

This is an exciting role for a team player who excels at web production, social media and project management.


DEPARTMENT:

Strategic Communications and External Affairs**Strategic Communications and External Affairs supports the entire NORC organization with expertise in corporate communications and creative services, external affairs, internal communications, and select project-level communications.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Publish engaging content on NORC's website, ensuring it aligns with NORC's brand standards for clean design and narrative clarity.
  • Oversee content development for NORC's social media accounts, maintaining a consistent brand voice and engaging with audiences effectively.
  • Manage digital communications projects, keeping timelines and budgets on track and updating stakeholders.
  • Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Create pixelperfect, responsive web layouts based on mockups from our design team.
  • Track and analyze both web and social media performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of digital communication strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with Strategic Communications colleagues, NORC researchers, and other staff and outside vendors to develop and execute highquality, integrated communications and marketing campaigns in a timely fashion.
  • Provide mentorship and handson support for junior members of the digital communications team.
  • Liaise across the organization with research groups, faithfully representing the interests of the communications team and NORC's brand.
  • Stay informed about the latest digital communication trends and technologies, and explore opportunities for innovation.

REQUIRED SKILLS:


  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 8 years of experience in digital communications, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for catching typos and a knack for streamlining text.
  • Sharp sense for design accuracy and a fastidious patience to get layouts exactly right.
  • Deep understanding of social media algorithms and their impact on content performance, with an instinct for what "pops" in people's feeds.
  • 5+ years experience managing large digital projects across multiple stakeholders, with excellent project management skills and an ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Experience managing multiple vendor relationships
  • Proficiency with a variety of website contentmanagement systems (knowledge of Adobe Experience Manager a strong plus but not required).
  • Facility with graphics editing software, such as Photoshop and Canva.
  • A knack for using project management tools such as Wrike or Asana.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under deadline.
  • Strong references from prior supervisors.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

The pay range for this position is $96,000- $144,000.

This position is classified as regular. Regular staff are eligible for NORC's comprehensive benefits program.
