Duties:


  • Disinfects restrooms to include urinals, toilet bowls, and sinks. Dusts, waxes, and/or polishes furniture and fixtures.
  • Empties waste baskets.
  • Responsible for requesting cleaning supplies through Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Sets up and tears down for special events or assemblies.
  • Adjusts and/or performs minor maintenance to attachments on power equipment.
  • Ensures that needed materials and tools are available on site for workers to complete daily duties.
  • Responsible for closing school by following all security procedures.
  • Demonstrates proper work methods.
  • Responsible for ensuring that school is clean and ready for the next day.
  • Provides updates to supervisor on status and progress of work.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • One year trial or probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.
  • A preplacement medical examination is required.
  • Work may include assignments on first or second shift.

  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
    Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):Ability to do the work of a(n) Custodial Worker Leader without more than normal supervision. Assist with distributing work to others; provide work status updates; and perform custodial and maintenance work such as window cleaning or snow removal
  • Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
  • You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
  • Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading)
  • Ability To Lead or Supervise
  • Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Dexterity and Safety
  • Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean and in order)

Physical Effort:Occasionally uses heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., industrial type buffers). Occasionally exerts moderately heavy physical effort such as that required in lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds, requiring continuous standing, bending, stooping and reaching. Requires working on ladders/scaffold in the performance of some duties.

Working Conditions:Usually works indoors in areas which are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritation from strong cleaning solutions. Care must be taken to avoid serious injury when working on ladders and scaffolds or when using heavy powered equipment.
