TELEWORK

YOUR FUTURE TEAM


As part of TCEQ's Office of Waste, you would contribute to agency efforts to regulate the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of various wastes and the cleanup of contaminated sites.

This position is a member of our Waste Permit Division.


WHAT YOU WILL DO


As a part of the division's Waste Permit team, our Administrative Assistant V will play a key role in achieving TCEQ's mission.


You would use your skills and experience to:

  • Assist with the purchase of goods and services following TCEQ and state purchasing rules; maintain receiving reports as goods and services are received; respond to inquiries regarding purchasing regulations, policies, and procedures; assist with audits of invoices, processes payments, and reconciles purchases made on agency procurement card.
  • Prepare complex correspondence, reports, forms, and documents for the WPD to ensure administrative completeness and accuracy; prepare public notice packages for Industrial & Hazardous Waste (IHW) and Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) permits and registrations according to agency and Office of Chief Clerk (OCC) standards.
  • Work closely with the Records Administrator to ensure agency records management policies and procedures are followed in the division to include records retention, storage, access, and destruction. Complete coding for IHW and MSW records to ensure documents are filed properly in the Central File Room.
  • Assist with the coordination of travel requests; verify budget availability and reconcile travel expenditures in the Budget Accounting Monitoring System.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Graduation from a standard senior high school or its equivalent plus five years of full-time experience providing administrative support in an office setting.


  • Fifteen semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each six months of the required experience with a maximum substitution of four years.

OR
Two years as an Administrative Assistant IV at TCEQ


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience completing purchasing and procurement of goods through a process requiring identifying eligible vendors, obtaining bids, ordering items, making payments, and invoice matching.
  • Data entry experience with attention to details or following standard operating procedures.
  • Experience providing general administrative support in an office setting including document processing, processing mail and answering phones.
