    Apex Systems is seeking an Entry to Associate level Engineering Technician to support one of our Clients in the AV/EV Industry

    Job Title: Engineering Technician

    Location: San Francisco, CA

    Schedule: M-F, Onsite

    Duration: 6 month contract, high potential for extensions.

    Engineering Technician (HIL)

    About the Role:

    We are looking for an Engineering Technician (HIL) to help build and bring-up our HIL testing platform as well as contribute positively to our testing culture by developing sustainable and scalable processes and methods. In this position, you will work on a multidisciplinary team and work directly with various stakeholders to assemble physical test platforms for component, subsystem, and system testing with fast-paced timelines. You will need an aptitude to learn what your immediate responsibilities are as well as how they tie into broader team and company goals.

    What You'll Be Doing:

    • Build HIL benches with an emphasis on standardization (wire colors, connectors) and safety (like E-stop, correct wire gauge, circuit protection fuse)
    • Maintain and use tools and equipment for the lab and team
    • Produce and develop detailed documentation for all build and maintenance procedures and team processes
    • Design, build, and set up equipment and test fixtures; operate and maintain equipment used for testing
    • Electrical support - harness and cable builds, debugging, and PCB board rework
    • Observe all safety standards and maintain a secure, safe, clean and healthy work environment.
    • Follow operating instructions, use protective equipment when required, and use equipment and materials properly
    • Perform other ad hoc, job-related duties, as assigned

    What You Must Have:

    • 1-2+ years technical experience in electro-mechanical, computer, automotive, marine electronics, robotics, aerospace, or similar industry/industries
    • Ability to proficiently read and interpret system architecture diagrams, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and network diagrams
    • Proficiency with and ability to use lab hand and power equipment/tools, including power drill, electric screwdriver, reciprocating saw, etc.
    • Knowledge in use of standard electronics lab tools including multimeters, oscilloscopes, AC/DC power supplies and electronic loads, etc.
    • Knowledge of different types of electrical outlets and different plug configurations.
    • Electrical troubleshooting and board debug experience
    • Working knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems
    • Ability to give and receive clear, prompt, and understandable verbal and written communications

    Bonus Points

    • Work experience in AV industry
    • Experience and/or knowledge with any of the following: Labview, GitHub, MATLAB, Python, JIRA, and/or Confluence experience
    • Ability to run version controlled test scripts or software
    • Skilled in CAD and prototype part design (SolidWorks or similar)
    • 3D printing
    • Understanding of in-vehicle communication protocols like CAN/LIN or ethernet
