Florida A&M University's Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Coordinator, Student Affairs vacancy.
ResponsibilitiesThe Coordinator, Student Affairs is a professional staff member dedicated to helping undergraduate, graduate, and professional students meet behavioral expectations and succeed at the University.
The Coordinator reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Director, Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, and assists in resolving complaints of alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct involving undergraduate and graduate students.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Conducts a prompt, equitable, and impartial administrative investigation into complaints, including identifying and interviewing parties; gathering and assessing information relevant to the investigation; Applying relevant policies; Advising all participants of their due process rights; Maintains accurate and thorough records of the investigatory process; create comprehensive written investigative reports that identify the issues investigated, summarize the evidence and make findings of fact; Actively fosters and maintains a climate that is supportive of students and respectful of differences; Assists in the recruitment, retention, training, advising, and evaluation of members of the hearing body and other conduct boards; Creates and facilitates annual educational and outreach initiatives to acquaint students, parents, faculty, staff and other stakeholders with the University's behavioral expectations and the rights and responsibilities of students; Serves as hearing officer to determine responsibility and sanctions for student conduct violations, ensure student completion of imposed sanctions, and monitor student disciplinary probation requirements; Collaborates with the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Director, Student Conduct, and Conflict Resolution to ensure that the University's processes, responses, and policies are consistent with federal and state laws and Florida Board of Governors regulations; Assists in determining and assessing the student conduct process, learning outcomes, and conflict resolution services; Develops and maintains effective working relationships with campus and community partners to promote community standards, civility, conflict management, and resolve complaints; Continuously identify and integrate best practices in student conduct and investigations, and perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of related experience; or a master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience resolving student conduct matters in a method that promotes community, learning and integrity;
Knowledge or experience in conflict resolution processes such as facilitated dialogue, restorative justice, mediation, and/or conflict coaching;
Experience in training students and professional staff with regard to student conduct processes and procedures;
Ability to maintain neutrality and manage highly sensitive and confidential information; and,
Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.
Pay PlanThis is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.
