- Prepare lab set up for lab activities and practice in coordination with the faculty. Coordinate all laboratory functions including skills laboratory activities and student practice activities. Participate and/or develop critical thinking scenarios for use in the nursing skills laboratory. Promote problem-solving and critical thinking skills in the learning and practice of nursing skills.
- Assume responsibility and provide supervision of students in the laboratory setting. Create and maintain a respectful and professional working environment, incorporating active learning and reflective thinking. Serve as a resource mentor for remediation of students identified by faculty. Maintain records of student attendance and skill performance in the laboratory.
- Monitor equipment and supplies for replacement, repairs, and disposal. Order equipment and supplies for skills laboratory within the allowed budget. Ensure maintenance of an orderly, clean, and organized skills laboratory.
- Participate in faculty team meetings and in nursing program committees. Participate with faculty in development of course objectives, course daily laboratory activities, and evaluation of total curriculum and revision of program policies. Communicate with the dean, and instructors regarding student concerns and issues and student progress as appropriate. Assist with orientation of adjunct faculty to role/responsibilities in clinical and laboratory settings.
- Remain current in the assigned subject matter and techniques of effective instruction through recent clinical experience and/or professional development.

HOURS: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday – Friday

MAJOR FUNCTIONS: The Nursing Lab Manager position is housed within the Healthcare Professions Division and will report to the Dean of Healthcare Professions. The Nursing Lab Manager will coordinate the non-instructional activities in the nursing laboratories.
Primary duties will include, but are not limited to:
MINIMUM TRAINING EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in nursing, medical-surgical nursing with at least three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse providing direct care. Preference will be provided to those who have the following: Recent successful teaching and/or clinical experience, Recent acute care experience, Experience with innovative teaching methodologies in addition to traditional lecture mode.
SUCCESS CANDIDATE WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of TCC policies and procedures. Knowledge of office procedures and practices. Knowledge of computer technology and software, including Workday and web environments. Knowledge of administrative principles and practices. Knowledge of all programs in the Health Care Professions division, including: Contact information for Health Programs Student Specialist, Individual program websites, Application deadlines for each program. Knowledge of college forms and their use. Knowledge of college procedures affecting this position and division. Knowledge of grading machine. Proficient in word processing (including document formatting), data base creation & management, and spreadsheet applications. Proficient in personal and Workday computer operations. Proficient in effective oral and written communication. Proficient in human relations and interpersonal communication skills. Proficient in proofreading and filing. Proficient in operation of fax and copy machines. Proficient in telephone etiquette and answering voice mail. Proficient in inventory management and ordering of supplies. Proficient in sending and receiving email. Ability to work independently or as part of a group within division guidelines. Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks, which are complex and broad in nature. Ability to organize and prioritize work, ability to adapt to changes in procedures, be flexible and implement procedures. Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports as directed.
