Job Summary

  • Reporting to the Director of Administration, the Communications Project Manager is the primary lead on all Web Design, Marketing, and Communication strategies within one of the largest academic departments at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. This role has a broad scope which requires an attention to detail, effective organization of tasks and projects with overlapping/competing deadlines, a customer service approach to working with all stakeholders, and strategic thinking to improve our current communications strategy. The Communications Project Manager joins the team as we begin a Schooldriven website rebranding and redesign.

Position Description

  • Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Lead website strategy roadmap, content migration projects, and performance optimization
  • Work with the Department Chair and Director of Administration to shape the communications strategy of the department
  • Create new websites and pages (no coding)
  • Train new users to edit their website content
  • Own design system governance and documentation
  • Lead department communication strategies including internal and external relations
  • Lead department research events management and strategy; collaborating with department coordinators on execution
  • Develop calendar of digital marketing activities, and optimize regularly based on analytics
  • Lead website strategy roadmap, content migration projects, and optimize web strategy including navigation and site performance. Train new users to edit their website content. Make SEO recommendations.
  • Maintain a comprehensive monthly marketing analytics report and present to senior management with recommendations for optimization
  • Work with the Harvard Chan School Communications Office to ensure compliance with established Harvard and Harvard Chan School brand guidelines and that all materials represent the high standards of Harvard University
  • Seek out the latest trends, tools and best practices in digital marketing outreach that can be applied to current and future marketing campaigns and processes.
  • Additional support of department communications as needed including tracking new research initiatives in the department to elevate to the school's communications office and Harvard newsletters
  • Other duties as assigned

This position has a term end date of 2 years from the date of hire with the possibility of extension.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years relevant experience to include large organization websites and communications strategies

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • The following jobspecific skills and competencies are preferred:
  • Experience managing information architecture for large websites with extensive content
  • Experience articulating technical requirements and describe concepts in common language
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, or JSON a plus

Work Format Details

  • This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
