    Job Overview

    The

    Director of Administrative Services


    provides oversight, coordination, and support for the Georgetown University Libraries in the areas of human resources, building management, security, and mailroom operations, and general administrative support.

    They initiate and track relevant business processes throughout the library employee life cycle (approximately 85+ FTE staff/AAP and 120+ students) and serve as the Department Administrator for GU Libraries and HR Contact for student employees in GMS.


    The position directs the work of the Library's Building Manager and another staff member who is responsible for library mailroom operations; and serves as liaison to University Facilities and GUPD for security issues, and coordinates emergency preparedness and response and risk management activities.

    In close collaboration with the Dean of the Library and other members of the leadership team, they provide general administrative support and serves as a liaison to Financial Services.

    The work of this position impacts the continuous operation of the GU Libraries, which provides support to academic continuity almost 24/7/365.

    Work Interactions

    The

    Director of Administrative Services


    reports directly to the Dean of the Library and interacts with the Associate University Librarians, directors, managers, librarians, library staff, and students on administrative matters.

    They work closely and collegially with other campus units such as Human Resources, Benefits Office, Student Employment Office, the Main Campus Office of Finance and Business Services, GUPD, University Facilities, and other university units to ensure transactions are processed accurately and in a timely fashion, and that building security and management issues are addressed appropriately and promptly.

    Requirements and Qualifications
    Master's degree or equivalent expertise and related work experience
    Minimum of three years demonstrated progressively responsible administrative experience, with strongly preferred experience in supporting human resource and administrative functions
    Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
    Supervisory experience
    Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage diverse and competing tasks while also delivering high quality customer service
    Proven experience in taking initiative and working independently
    Ability to pay strict attention to detail, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality and ethical work practices, and handle sensitive information with sound judgment and discretion
    Commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace, and ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, students, and staff
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Adobe, and web conferencing software

    Proven experience using databases and spreadsheets, with willingness and ability to learn new software to support administrative functions, as needed.

    Preferred requirement and qualification
