Job Overview:

The Patient Safety Aide is a caregiver who is visually attentive to a patient at risk due to meeting the criteria and having an order for a 1:1 patient watch.

Qualifications:

Required:_
High School Diploma
BLS Certification through American Heart Association only
Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Certifications and Licenses:

BLS certification through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:

Days 7:00AM 3:00PM
Schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs
Per-Diem
2 Week Mandatory Orientation

Essential Functions:

Accompanies transported patients to ancillary departments and other nursing units
Activates call lights and calls for patient assistance promptly and courteously
Assists staff in completing personal hygiene for assigned patients
Assists staff with patient positioning and repositioning as required
Assists with ambulating
Assists with feeding
Endorses watch to next shift Safety Aide or other staff as appropriate
Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives
Performs all duties as assigned
Records data in Patient Watch Observation Log as appropriate
Reports patient complaints, problems, or unusual occurrences immediately to the appropriate to RN
Responds appropriately to emergency situations
Understands information pertinent to assigned patients
