Job Overview:


The Patient Safety Aide is a caregiver who is visually attentive to a patient at risk due to meeting the criteria and having an order for a 1:1 patient watch.


Qualifications:


  • Required:_
  • High School Diploma
  • BLS Certification through American Heart Association only
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs

Certifications and Licenses:


  • BLS certification through American Heart Association

Scheduling Requirements:


  • Days 7:00AM 3:00PM
  • Schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs
  • Per-Diem
  • 2 Week Mandatory Orientation

Essential Functions:


  • Accompanies transported patients to ancillary departments and other nursing units
  • Activates call lights and calls for patient assistance promptly and courteously
  • Assists staff in completing personal hygiene for assigned patients
  • Assists staff with patient positioning and repositioning as required
  • Assists with ambulating
  • Assists with feeding
  • Endorses watch to next shift Safety Aide or other staff as appropriate
  • Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives
  • Performs all duties as assigned
  • Records data in Patient Watch Observation Log as appropriate
  • Reports patient complaints, problems, or unusual occurrences immediately to the appropriate to RN
  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations
  • Understands information pertinent to assigned patients
