    Generation Hope is a nonprofit organization with a mission to ensure all student parents have the opportunities to succeed and experience economic mobility by engaging education and policy partners to drive systemic change and providing direct support to teen parents in college as well as their children through holistic, two-generation programming.

    Overview:


    The Development Coordinator will support the Director of Development and be part of Generation Hope's growing Advancement team focused on development and communications work.

    While the Development Coordinator will play a role in the success of all of Generation Hope's fundraising efforts, this person will focus primarily on development operations and systems.

    They will play a vital role in ensuring that audiences feel welcomed, informed, and engaged with Generation Hope, remain in consistent contact with the work of the organization, and receive appropriate appreciation for their support.

    In addition to executing specific projects and ongoing tasks, the Development Coordinator will be encouraged to identify and implement new systems, processes, and initiatives that can improve or enhance the work of the Advancement team.


    Responsibilities:
    Refine and maintain collaboration, pipeline, project, and data management tools (e.g. best practices documents, overall processes, trackers, etc.)

    Manage the weekly thank you process by preparing and sending thank you letters to donors and sending correspondence to welcome and acknowledge specialized segments of donors, including first-time donors, second-time donors, recurring donors, increasing donors, etc.

    Lead donor stewardship and acknowledgement by: (1) creating and implementing a process for each donor to receive an annual gift summary annually (by January 31st) for tax purposes, and (2) sending thank you letters and timely, accurate and appropriately personalized correspondence to welcome and acknowledge specialized segments of donors, including first-time donors, second-time donors, recurring donors, increasing donors, etc.

    Lead data integrity and consistency efforts by: (1) implementing quarterly CRM data clean-up and de-duping processes and schedules (2) identifying opportunities to enhance the use of our CRM to improve donor correspondence, tracking, and engagement, and (3) serving as the SME for our CRM - providing staff with tips, training and answers to FAQs related to best practice utilization of current CRM
    Ensure the accuracy of our email outreach by managing Generation Hope's Mailchimp lists and tags, including aligning database and email system data
    Support Donor Relationships Manager and Grants & Foundations Manager to develop pre-meeting support materials for CEO, COO, Vice President of Advancement, and Director of Development (e.g. preparing donor lists and collateral materials, conducting prospect research and outreach, developing prospect visit briefings)
    Support Advancement team in capturing post-meeting follow-up (e.g. updating trackers, entering relevant updates in CRM, distributing information to other members of the team)
    Pull reports and lists for newsletters, donor outreach, fundraising appeals, annual report, and other projects as needed for rapid, personalized donor acknowledgement letters and internal reporting during appeals, including preparing customized thank yous for other staff and board members
    Support Circle of Hope, Generation Hope's major donor program, by assisting with the "moves management" process, conducting donor outreach as needed, and supporting individual donor prospect research
    Manage any credit card payment issues or other requests from recurring donors and reach out to donors when recurring credit card information has expired

    Support the engagement and growth of monthly donors by: (1) collaborating with the Donor Relationships Manager to create routine, timely correspondence with monthly donors, including invitations to special/major events and sharing updates and published reports amplifying the impact of their donations.

    Support individual donors to process corporate matches as needed

    Provide support to Events Manager as needed to ensure the success of GH events (i.e., HOPE conference, Pathways to Promise, Family U convening, etc.), including registration, event logistics, sponsor benefits fulfillment, and event follow up.

    Provide support to Grants Manager by researching and reporting new grant funding opportunities.
    Research and report new grant funding opportunities as needed

    Qualifications and desired skills:

    Required:
    Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to Generation Hope's mission
    High School Diploma/GED and three years related experience or a Bachelor's degree required
    At least 2 years of professional experience, ideally working in a

    development/fundraising

    department
    Detail-oriented, ability to get in the weeds of data, databases, and lists, and ensure accuracy and data integrity
    Ability to balance efficiency, timeliness, and quality
    Systems thinker, excited to think about how we can streamline and improve fundraising processes and systems
    Interested in engaging with staff, donors, board members, Scholars, student parents, and their children, volunteers, and other partners
    Ability to see the big picture, make connections, and spot trends
    Motivated and proactive, excited to learn, be creative, and help take Generation Hope's development operations and donor engagement to the next level
    Ability to express opinions confidently and with respect for others, and ability to exercise discretion with personal or sensitive information
    Meticulous organizational skills and strong problem-solving capabilities, especially the ability to keep track of small moving parts across several distinct projects
    The ability to form relationships and communicate effectively with a range of staff
    Personal and professional commitment to understanding and dismantling systemic and institutional racism


    Highly preferred:
    Strong writing and editing skills
    Experience with databases/CRMs, including data entry, reporting, and data cleanup
    Experience with individual donor programs
    Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

    CANDIDATES MUST RESIDE IN WASHINGTON, D.C., VIRGINIA, OR MARYLAND BEFORE THE EMPLOYMENT START DATE.

    Generation Hope has a hybrid remote and in-office work model.

    Employees must be able to work a minimum of two days per week onsite.
