Description
The purpose of this job is to provide services to library patrons through materials selection, program planning and implementation, reference instruction and searches, readers' advisory, and grant preparation.
Increases public awareness about library services through extensive career level volunteer opportunities. May focus on a specific library function such as children's programs, reference, technical services, or volunteer services.Example of Duties:

- Employs and models the Library's mission and vision, as well as the values, ethics, and principles of the library profession.
- Plans, promotes, and facilitates programs for interest of the community of League City.
- Collaborates with colleagues to provide services and programs.
- Assists patrons in obtaining information from library resources via existing modes of communication.
- Selects and evaluates library resources including audio visual, print, and electronic for circulating and noncirculating collections.
- Follows city and library policies and procedures for expending money, accounting for expenditures, and grant writing.
- Provides readers' advisory services for adults and children.
- Actively pursues opportunities to further enhance the library's image with the community and community organizations through speaking engagements, networking opportunities, and outreach activities.
- Promotes and demonstrates the value of Library services, such as through marketing and advocacy efforts.
- Performs other related duties as assigned and in support of the Library's and City's mission.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Library Science or a related field
- At least one (1) to three (3) years of related work experience
- Any combination of education, training, and experience, which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position, may be substituted, or evaluated at the discretion of the City.

- Information literacy, including research methods and source evaluation, and professional reference and readers' advisory techniques
- Methods for planning, implementing, and assessing library collections, services and programs
- The principles and systems for information organization and retrieval
- Library technology solutions, such as integrated library systems, online public access catalogs, or data communication protocols

- Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships.

- Plan library programs to utilize and create community partnerships for assigned areas.
