- Provide sign language interpretation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings, including classrooms, meetings, and school events.
- Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa to facilitate communication between students, teachers, and other school staff.
- Collaborate with teachers and other educational professionals to support the academic and social development of students with hearing-related disabilities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students receiving sign language interpretation services.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working with students and their families.
- Bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting, Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.
- Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent credential.
- Valid Washington Educational Interpreter Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.
- Knowledge of deaf culture, language acquisition, and educational interpreting best practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to different communication styles and preferences.
- Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
