    The Strand House, the South Bay's premier ocean-front fine dining restaurant, is hiring a Full Time and Part Time Pastry Cook **Open Availability and Weekends Required**

    The South Bay's best and busiest fine dining restaurant located at the water's edge, is seeking hardworking and enthusiastic line cooks to join our culinary team It is a sophisticated yet comfortable family-owned restaurant conceived by a small group of South Bay families out of their love for great food, wine and friends. In 2011, The Strand House opened its doors, leading the culinary revolution of Manhattan Beach. With 180° sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, world travelers and locals alike may come for the view, but stay for our Coastal California Cuisine.

    *Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a pastry cook*

    Compensation:

    • Base hourly rate of $21 plus Tips
    • Share in tip pool (approx. $1-$5 additional per hour)
    • $200 / month towards medical insurance (Full time only after 90 days )
    • 80 hours of vacation per year based on the accrual system (Full time only after 90 days (30+ hours) must be maintained in order to keep vacation accrual.

    Primary tasks will include prep, production and plating. We are looking for candidates that desire to grow and learn with our team and have respect for quality ingredients that we source from local farmers. Ideal candidates will work cleanly, efficiently, have a strong sense of urgency, and are able to multi-task.

    Job Qualifications & Requirements:
    • Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a pastry cook
    • Have high volume prep or pastry cook experience
    • Holding a current food handlers card
    • Certificate or degree in Culinary Arts is a plus, but not required
    • Excellence in prepping and planning
    • Utilize clean work habits and have solid attention to detail
    • Resourceful and well organized
    • Ability to multi-task & work with efficiency and ease amidst a fast paced and demanding environment
    • Standing & walking eight-hour shifts
    • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends and holidays
