Director of Camp Services position at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds Rockland County location, a not-for-profit operating in the day camp sphere, may be the perfect job for you.

This
unique seasonal position, paying a
salary of $20,000 (approx. 75% is paid out from April - August 31) combines operations support with program management that includes seasonal staff hiring and supervision,

ABOUT THE HENRY KAUFMANN CAMPGROUNDS


Home to 11 independently run JCC day camps, the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds is a small non-profit that manages and operates three facilities located in Long Island, Rockland County and Staten Island.


As a seasonal organization, HKC hires 300+ seasonal workers that provide maintenance and janitorial services, aquatics supervision and security to ensure we can carry out our
mission to meet the needs of the camps who run their programs at HKC and providing a safe environment to do so.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE DIRECTOR OF CAMP SERVICES


The Director of Camp Services (DCS) is the front-line HKC representative to the four camps at HKC
Rockland
County, serving as their liaison with HKC operations (maintenance, security and aquatics)
.

During the summer, when camp is in session, the Director of Camp Services is focused on ensuring the operations run safely and smoothly, and that the camps needs are met.

Additionally, the DCS oversees the staff experience, including ensuring team building activities take place and conducting leadership training),


During the off-season the Director of Camp Services will be available to meet with management and provide information as management plans the upcoming summer.

In the spring, the DCS is responsible for the of the aquatics staff and working with management on the planning and execution of staff orientation and training.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff this position will be working with the Site Superintendent, the Aquatics Director and the HR Manager to carry out the mission of the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds.


WORK SCHEDULE


During the camp season (mid-June through the last day of camp), this positon is on-site full-time,
Monday - Friday with the work day starting no later than 8:00am and ending no earlier than 4:15pm.

From September - January, the DCS is expected to be available but not expected to put in more than 5-10 hours each month.

Hours begin increasing gradually in January, when we start hiring for the next summer, with the work load growing to hours per week in April and May.


QUALIFICATIONS


And if someone is experienced in conflict management, has worked as a camp director, or has experience supervising teens and other young adults, even better.
