Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
2) Have a bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field AND five years of experience in computer related areas as described in #1 above; OR
3) Have an associate's degree* with 15 semester credit hours in a computer science field AND six years of experience in computer related areas as described in #1 above; OR
4) Seven years of experience in computer related areas as described in #1 above.

Definition:

For the purposes of this examination, Supervisory Experience is defined as the responsibility for assigning work and overseeing subordinate staff or project(s) in an Information Technology (IT) environment.

1)

Be a qualified employee of New York State Department of Education and have had one (1) year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as one of the following:
Chief Computer Operator, Information Technology Specialist 3, Information Technology Specialist 3 (Data Communications), Information Technology Specialist 3 (Database), Information Technology Specialist 3 (Programming), Information Technology Specialist 3 (Systems Programming), Information Technology Specialist 4, Information Technology Specialist 4 (Data Communications), Information Technology Specialist 4 (Database), Information Technology Specialist 4 (Operations), or Information Technology Specialist 4 (Systems Programming) OR

3) Have a bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field AND five years of experience in computer related areas as described in #2 above; OR

Duties Description

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy and roadmap to modernize legacy systems, adopt new technologies, and drive digital transformation initiatives aligned with the Agency's goals.
  • Manage the planning, implementation, and deployment of new IT solutions, system upgrades, and enhancements to support evolving business needs and requirements.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development within the IT teams, fostering an environment that encourages knowledge sharing and adoption of emerging technologies.

Additional Comments

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position leads to a maximum salary of $127,830 based on annual performance advances.
