Key Responsibilities:

A day in the life of the Field Auto Damage Adjuster, and what it takes to do the job

As a Field Auto Damage Adjuster, your role in our Auto claims handling process is pivotal. You will be responsible for preparing estimates directly at customer locations, repair shops, or tow yards. Your daily tasks will involve a range of customer interactions, including face-to-face, virtual, and written communication, as you evaluate and finalize estimates. With a variety of workstreams such as repairable estimates and total loss assessments, you can expect a dynamic and stimulating work environment. Please note that residence in the North Boston, MA area is a requirement for this position.


You'll wear multiple hats and play various roles during your day, all of which demand a certain level of expertise.

The Customer Service Expert

  • You'll embody Allstate's Claims Culture through your caring, empowering, and restorative approach, showing compassion, clarity, and commitment in every claim. Your leadership will always be guided by empathy.

The Investigator

  • You'll conduct thorough investigations of claims, analyzing damages and interpreting policies independently to determine coverage.

The Effective Communicator

The Negotiator

  • You'll assess and negotiate claim settlements with customers, vendors, third-party carriers, and claimants following all legal and business protocols. In handling complex situations, you'll employ negotiation tactics effectively.

The Problem Solver

  • You'll utilize various tools to excel in a fast-paced environment, including estimate tools, job aids, and different settlement platforms, all while applying your sharp critical thinking skills.

The Recorder

  • You'll safeguard the company financially by adhering to policy agreements and maintaining accurate records of your work in a designated claims system. Timely and precise documentation for each claim will be a key aspect of your responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • You have over 18 months of experience in auto Collision estimating using CCC or Mitchell.
  • You possess a High School Diploma or a GED.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively with customers.
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to craft precise and comprehensive estimates.
  • Comfortable with utilizing technology and various platforms for claims processing.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple assignments efficiently.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and have a willingness to travel as part of the job requirements.
