Summary

The Leadership Development Specialist is responsible for:

  • The development, training and coordination of leadership programs and other development opportunities across the entire health system.
  • Helping formulate management policies regarding worker conditions with regular access and analysis of confidential information that help formulate labor policies.
  • Possibly attending management meetings and be involved directly or indirectly in the decision making process around management positions during negotiations process.
  • Exercising of independent judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with driving cultural change through the adoption of learning competencies linked to business strategy.
  • Prepare, develop and assist with the production of classroom handouts, instructional materials, aids and manuals.
  • Assists with preparation, setup and registration of classes, special conferences, customized leadership projects and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Executes content delivery to Jackson leaders through structured learning experiences and training courses aligned with strategic goals, CARE values and Leadership Success Factors.
  • Coordinate and maintain learning tracking tools or system to ensure accuracy of attendance records and that they reflect any changes in the systems strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with learning partners & internal L&OD team members to prepare and assist with measuring departmental programs and initiatives to review progress, discuss course modification procedures, and determine program ROI.
  • Plan, schedule and facilitate New Leader Orientation and monitor new leaders post training to ensure training is addressing all of the department's objectives.
  • Keep abreast of training and development trends and tools in employee development to identify ways to deliver meaningful training experiences that are effective and scalable.
  • Schedules meetings for director and departmental managers.
  • Drafts and distributes correspondence.
  • Act as liaison with local colleges, universities and other educational institutions when needed to expand and enhance service of the department.
  • Maintain working knowledge of educational curriculum and costs for workforce development.
  • Review training content for errors or inaccurate information in learning modules.
  • Coordinate with IT to ensure training programs are available in learning platforms/portals.
  • Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
  • Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience
Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.


Education
Bachelor's degree in related field is required


Credentials
Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
