Duties:


  • You will provide comprehensive advocacy services to individuals exhibiting a wide variety of issues related to being a victim or survivor of sexual assault.
  • You will conduct risk assessments of individuals to determine immediate needs and evaluates safety and levels of risks; provides emotional support and guidance to victims in crisis while addressing the individual needs.
  • You will provide crisis intervention in the immediate aftermath of sexual assault and develops safety plans based on initial and ongoing risk assessments.
  • You will maintain contact with clients through followup support for ongoing needs related to coping with sexual assault.
  • You will provide clients with information, referrals and applicable resources available through the Marine Corps, Navy and local communities.
  • You will accompany the victim to appointments and civilian and military court proceedings, as appropriate and when requested by the victim.
  • You will complete required reports/documents on incidents of sexual assault.
  • You will report all victim support services and response information to the SARC and consults with the SARC on an ongoing basis to ensure comprehensive care for victims throughout the care process.
  • You will assist the SARC with the development and coordination of command SAPR prevention and public awareness campaigns and local events.
  • You will conduct training workshops/seminars on sexual assault, and interpersonal violence.
  • You will collaborate with training specialists on education, training and required briefing pertaining to sexual assault and interpersonal violence.
  • You will attend Case Management Group (CMG) meetings when a case is presented involving a victim with whom the SAPR Command VA has had contact.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret level security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will required to remain in a state of readiness to perform work with limitations on pursuing outside leisure activities while on call; and/or reporting to a designated post of duty to be ready to or to perform work.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications:


  • In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector using knowledge of social services work, counseling services, psychosocial principles and theories, crisis intervention, and/or group dynamics of family and individual systems performing the following:1) assisting in providing sexual assault or crisis intervention advocacy services; 2) implementing and/or assisting in developing crisis plan of actions and sexual assault or crisis intervention assistance plans; 3) assisting with developing and coordinating sexual assault prevention and awareness or crisis intervention campaigns or events for an organization; and 4) assisting in conducting education and training sexual assault or crisis intervention workshops/seminars.
