About UNAGB_

Our Vision:

Since 1974, UNAGB has ignited a powerful vision: a Greater Boston where individuals, of every age, take globally-informed local action, collaboratively shaping a future abundant in sustainability and peace.

Our Why:
We believe that this vision is more important than ever. We face increasingly complex and interconnected challenges (climate change, pandemic threat, and more ).

At the same time, the fabric of our civic discourse and civic trust (local, national, and global) has weakened, making collaborative problem solving more difficult.

This combination has the potential to be devastating for the future of all people and the planet.

What We Do:
UNAGB engages a multigenerational audience of K-12 students, university students, and voting-age community members in action-oriented skill-building experiences.

We deliver age-appropriate programming to educate, inspire, and activate participants to tackle the most pressing issues in their local and global communities.

From enabling discussion on rising sea levels in 5th grade classrooms, to training university students to facilitate consensus-building dialogue, to convening free-to-the public forums on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we are meeting people, of all ages, where they are and empowering them to engage in making the world a better place for all.

Our Values:

At UNAGB we believe that we "build the path by walking it." Our values guide how we approach our daily work as a board and staff and how we shape the participant experience in all of our programs.

Our 5 values include:

  • Productive Dialogue
  • Meaningful Collaboration
  • Global Awareness & Local Action
  • Continuous Learning & Pragmatic Optimism
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Our Results:

As a direct result of UNAGB's programs, participants have the skills and knowledge they need to address pressing challenges in a way that is globally-informed and starts at the local level.

Each year we educate and inspire over 5,000 program participants, primarily k-12 students.

We are committed to ensuring that a significant portion of seats across our programs are reserved, at reduced cost or free of charge, for students from low and middle income school districts.

Our overwhelmingly positive survey data and alumni success stories show significant development in leadership skills as well as strengthened optimism, engagement, and curiosity.

As just one example of our impact, 98% of students in our summer academic program self-reported that they improved their leadership skills and 88% reported improving their public speaking abilities.

Our program alumni share that, because of UNAGB's programs, they are more confident, more skilled, and more inspired to build the future for which they hope.
